PAUL STAINTON: Banners opposing a development which would provide up to 5,000 new homes and around 9,000 jobs have been put up ahead of an important meeting. Richard Jones from Barker Storey Matthews on Development in Peterborough

PAUL STAINTON: Peterborough apparently needs more warehouses. It’s the view of a leading city businessman, who says he’s having enquiries from as far away as Felixstowe for warehouse space right here in Peterborough. Last month we revealed that Eddie Stobart, of coursem will be the first business to open a distribution centre in Great Haddon, this big development just to the South of Hampton. But the city’s MP Stewart Jackson said he wanted moreĀ  high-skilled jobs coming to Peterborough, and fewer warehouses. Richard Jones is the man who wants more warehouses, says we could do with a lot more warehouses, from Barker Storey Matthews. Morning Richard.

Cereste Celebrates Licence to Build

PAUL STAINTON: The blueprint for Peterborough’s future development has moved a step closer to being finalised. The Government has approved the Council’s vision of 25,500 homes, and 24,600 new jobs in the city by 2026. It includes the proposed 5,000 home development at Great Haddon, and makes provision for the Magna Park rail freight exchange plan for Stanground. Shailesh Vara on Great Haddon

Peterborough City Council has submitted planning applications for Great Haddon, in essence a new town of over five thousand homes to the south of Peterborough. A number of significant concerns have been raised about what will become one of the county’s largest new developments.

Yaxley Up in Arms About Great Haddon

Peterborough City Council plans another large housing development at Great Haddon. The village of Yaxley, just across the border in Cambridgeshire, believes that this will considerable worsen the quality of life for existing residents, and they see nothing coming forward to contradict the belief that Peterborough, with its apparent obsession with expansion, is a bad neighbour to have.
